1. Knowing what you're looking for regarding job type, salary range, benefits, and work arrangement. Doing this will help you identify and take advantage of the right opportunities.
"Having a clear goal makes it easier to strategize your job search. Decide the industry, job role, tasks you envision yourself doing daily, and the tools and technologies you will be working with."
2. Identify early on your deal-breakers, which are negative traits or qualities you don't want in a job opportunity. During interviews, don't be afraid to ask questions to gauge the company culture and turnover rates.
3. Tailor your CV to match the job description and increase your chances of success. Include relevant keywords from the job description and ask ChatGPT for help.
"Search for the role's job description and tailor your resume to match it. Highlight your relevant skills and experiences, and include keywords from the job description to increase your chances of getting past applicant tracking systems (ATS). You can easily find the job description by googling the job title or asking ChatGPT."

To switch careers successfully, understand your motivations and evaluate your transferable skills, for example: are you seeking a more fulfilling career or a new challenge? Conduct a SWOT analysis to identify which skills can be applied to your new tech career, even if acquired in a different field.
Emily's recommendation:
1. Identify the target job and comprehensively understand the responsibilities, confirming their alignment with your desired day-to-day activities. Additionally, identify the hard and soft skills needed to perform well.
2. Analyze your skill set, highlight transferable skills in your CV, and prioritize acquiring essential skills for a successful career transition. For instance, if you lack knowledge or experience in cloud providers as a data engineer specializing in cloud, prioritize acquiring it.
3. Communicate your career transition desire and highlight transferable skills and past achievements to back you up for success, even if you lack specific experience in the role.
