🟢 Green flags when job hunting
TECLA connects the best tech talent in Latin America with the best remote-ok technology companies in the U.S., Canada, and Europe. If you want to upgrade your career, keep reading!
This company is an 8 but...
Vacations are encouraged and respected, you have mentors and a clear career path, your opinions matter, and you have space to innovate. Definitely a 10, right?
This is a perfectly normal, and relatively healthy in our opinion, doubt that you could have. After several years of working with remote-ok tech companies, here are our favorite green flags and how to spot them:
They offer long-term opportunities
Finding long-term opportunities tends to be a difficult journey since there are a lot of offers from companies looking for freelancers or on-demand workers.
They stand on steady grounds
Will this company be able to withstand a crisis? Whether internal, financial, or social, it's important to choose a company with a strong sense of internal culture and values as well as a healthy financial backbone.
How to spot it:
Google the company's name. You'll be surprised just how much you can find. Bonus points if you use each social media's search engine to see what comes up. Finally, search on Crunchbase for any financial information related to the company. On the free version, you'll get data like Funding Status, Last Funding Date, Valuation at IPO, etc.
Employees express genuine commitment
A team that communicates effectively, works together in synergy, gives you the room to innovate, and values your insights is what everybody wants. It's not just because they keep posting about their day-to-day accomplishments and team on their social channels. Yes, this is important, but not everyone is publicly active on social media.
How to spot it:
Use LinkedIn to search for current and former employees. Don't be afraid to ask privately for their advice and experience (if it was the other way around, would you answer? probably yes!). Remember that it's not just you being vetted for the position. It's a two-way street. You need to also vet and screen each potential employer.
Achievement unlocked
As of today, 65 IT professionals from Latin America got hired by top tech companies from the U.S, Canada, and Europe!
