Do you have what it takes?

The employment landscape has changed dramatically over the past 12 months. As the end of the year approaches, we want to look into what to expect for the candidate's near future. You are welcome .

In a world where technology is advancing exponentially, it's normal to wonder how you can stay competitive and relevant. The secret to success while looking for a job? Learning skills that are in demand. Although there is not an overarching secret skill recipe, some fusion of capabilities and talents gives you a head start for succeeding in your job quest. Keep reading to find the most in-demand candidate skills for next year.

1. Soft Skills are so hot right now.

Oh, the evolution of soft skills. Yesterday's hard skills were more valued than personal attributes to succeed in your job. But this has changed drastically, mainly due to the rise of remote and autonomous work. In a recent study of the ten most in-demand skills, seven were "soft" such as communication, problem-solving, strategic planning, and teamwork.

 2. Diversification in tech will be essential.

Technological diversification is commonly linked to various developments, including innovation, increased financial performance, and inter-organizational relationships. Therefore, candidates with lateral tech skills will be top of the pile since diversity in tech jobs will continue to evolve in these upcoming years.

Remember, you can use our educational perks and learn lateral tech-oriented skills like content creation or data literacy .

 3. The future is computational.

The future of digital change is networks, people, and workplaces. Have you heard of SMAC? Oh, it's totally in right now. The abbreviation stands for Social, Mobile, Analytics, and Cloud. A powerful combination for the workforce this next year is thinking about skills through the lens of STEM and SMAC since this shows the candidate's view on how to approach a new, digitally-reliant near future.

Although the skills recruiters look for in candidates vary between positions, there are a few capabilities employers look for in new talent, no matter the open position. If you want to land your dream job next year, be wary of these most in-demand candidate skills and write them down for your new year's resolution.

“Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” - Tim Notke

“O trabalho duro supera o talento quando o talento não trabalha duro”  "El trabajo duro vence al talento cuando el talento no trabaja duro”

The importance of hard work will only increase in the next few years as the disruption caused by technology lets people learn even what they were never talented for only a click away. On that account, talented teams must also put in the hard work required to stay at the top. It takes discipline to continue to sharpen skills diligently.

We are what we repeatedly do. Therefore, the only thing that beats talent is hard work.
