Learn the Rules of English Plural Nouns 💭

Rule #1: Adding -s and -es

Most nouns: add '-s'.

• Cat → Cats

👉 For nouns ending in double s, -x, -ch, or –sh: add '-es'’

• Brush → Brushes

• Dress → Dresses

Rule #2: Handling -y Endings

Nouns with '-y' after a consonant: replace '-y' with '-ies'.

Confused About When to Use “Which” or “That” in Your Sentences? 🤔

Let's simplify the difference between the concepts of restrictive and nonrestrictive clauses.

Rule #1: Restrictive Clause

A restrictive clause narrows down the noun it's modifying.

For example:

👉 Here, "that contain soybeans" is a restrictive clause, limiting the products discussed to those with soybeans.

Rule #2: Nonrestrictive Clauses

A nonrestrictive clause adds extra, non-essential info.

For example:

👉 The detail "Tom's favorite" is non-restrictive. If removed, the main point remains: soybean baby food products are best for his diet.

Another example:

"The car that is parked in the driveway belongs to John." 

→ The clause "that is parked in the driveway" is restrictive. It specifies which of John's cars we're discussing.

"The blue car, which is parked in the driveway, belongs to John." 

→ Here, "which is parked in the driveway" is non-restrictive. It adds detail but isn't essential. Without it, the main idea (John owns the blue car) stays intact.

⚠️ In short, "that" narrows the focus, while "which" adds color without altering the main message.
